After you get your golf cart, the next step is making it your own! While some golf cart drivers prefer to leave their cart alone and drive it with stock options, there are other drivers who want to get in there with their wrench and make some changes. Alterations or customizations of your golf cart can increase performance or entertainment, so we understand the desire to make it your own!
If you’re the second type of cart owner, we’re happy you’re here! At J’s Golf Carts, we welcome all cart owners, new and old, DIY-ers and those who bring their cart in for upgrades. If you’ve been thinking of installing hydraulic brakes on your cart, know that our team is here to help you in any way you’d like. If you’re doing it yourself and have a question, give us a call at 919-552-9351, or you can contact us online if you’d like to bring your cart in for service. Want to know more about hydraulic brakes on a golf cart? Read on for helpful info!
What are Hydraulic Brakes?
Hydraulic brakes use brake fluid to transfer pressure to the brake pads, bringing your vehicle to a stop. By pushing the brake pedal, you put force on the pistons in the master cylinder, filling a pressure chamber with fluid from the brake fluid reservoir. As the pressure increases, fluid is forced through hydraulic lines toward calipers which in turn pushes the brake caliper pistons into the brake pads, pushing them against the rotor.
Do I Need Hydraulic Brakes?
If you only plan on taking your golf cart to the greens and around the neighborhood, the standard drum brakes on your cart will perform just fine. However, if you’re interested in adding additional speed or taking your golf cart off-road, hydraulic brakes will give you greater stopping power and keep you and any passengers safe.
Installing Hydraulic Brakes
If you decide to install hydraulic brakes yourself, be prepared to spend at least an afternoon working on your cart. Between installing the hardware, bleeding the brakes, adjusting the components and aligning everything, this is no quick fix. But for any golf cart owner who takes great pride in tinkering on toys and upgrading their cart themselves, it sure is a rewarding afternoon exercise! Want to make sure it’s done right and nothing goes awry? Contact our team and get a quick transparent quote on the installation.
