Like any vehicle, the tires you put on your golf cart makes a big difference in your driving experience. There are different tire options to choose from, including different treads, widths, and sizes. In fact, the process can be related to putting new tires on a car – you would want the perfect tires on your everyday car, so why wouldn’t you want the perfect tires on your golf cart as well? In a state like North Carolina, where we get all four seasons, your cart should be prepared to take on all kinds of weather conditions. J’s Golf Carts is here to help! We have plenty of tires available to get your cart moving.
Types of Tires
Just like regular cars, there are multiple types of tires that you can purchase for your golf cart. There are three main types of tires thatexist for golf carts: turf/street, off-road/knobby, and all-terrain. If you need help deciding which type of tire will best suit your needs, we are here to help you here at J’s Golf Carts!
These tires come in a multitude of sizes, with four standard widths: 8”, 10”, 12”, and 14”. You also have the option to lift your golf cart if you would like, although that is not mandatory.
Turf/Street
This is the most common type of golf cart tire. In fact, turf/street tires often come ready on the vehicle as standard. The tread on this tire has a flat design to prevent it from damaging the course. Their specific tread is also good for water dispersion, traction, cornering, and braking.
These tires work best for individuals who only plan to use their cart on the golf course or to cruise around their neighborhood.
Off-Road/Knobby
As one would expect, these tires are designed for off-road use. They have a similar feel to tires you would find on an ATV. Unlike turf/street tires, they have a more pronounced tread design. This design gives them a better grip to help navigate uneven terrain, move over wooded areas, sand, mud, and more.
This type of tire is not recommended for use on a golf course, and is unnecessary for neighborhood drives. They are, however, great for individuals in North Carolina who plan to use their golf cart on their farms or when they go hunting.
All-Terrain
All-terrain tires have somewhat of an in-between tread compared to the other two options. They do not have as flat of a trim as the turf/street tires, but are not quite as aggressive as off-road tires. They mostly benefit individuals who may find themselves going between light off-road trips and the street. Keep in mind, these tires often are not allowed on a course, so you may also need turf/street tires.
Tire Prices
Tire prices may vary depending on style and brand. Better quality tires obviously mean you will put down extra money, but they last longer. Additionally, off-road tires frequently cost a bit more than the standard turf/street tires. However, as a rule of thumb, you should expect to pay between $50 and $100 per tire. Here at J’s Golf Carts in NC, we aspire to give you the best possible deal on your cart’s tires.
