Whether you’re a golf enthusiast or simply enjoy getting outdoors and being active, golf carts are an excellent way to get around. But if you want to take your golf cart game to the next level, one question remains: how high can you safely lift your golf cart? In this guide, we’ll take a look at the various factors that influence golf cart lifting, as well as some tips and tricks for customizing your golf cart to reach new heights. Whether you’re looking to optimize performance on the golf course or simply want to stand out from the crowd, lifting your golf cart is an excellent way to achieve these goals. But before we get into the nitty-gritty of golf cart lifting, let’s first answer the question on everyone’s mind: why lift a golf cart in the first place?

Why Lift Your Cart?

Golf cart lifting is the process of modifying a golf cart to have a higher ground clearance, typically through the addition of specialized parts or equipment. Many individuals think that lifting their golf cart simply means installing larger wheels – but oftentimes, you actually need a lift kit.

There are many reasons why people choose to lift their golf carts, including improved performance on the golf course, better stability and handling, enhanced customizability, and improved aesthetics.  Since the use of golf carts has evolved to drive them off the golf course, lifting a cart may increase performance for those sorts of endeavors.

When you lift your cart, it obviously allows for larger tires to be installed on your cart.  These larger tires do not only keep your cart lifted higher off the ground but will also increase the overall speed of the cart.  Your cart will also have a bit more power than it did before with the higher ground clearance, larger tires, and increased speed.  With these things in mind, it is important to remember that a higher ground clearance may also mean a higher likelihood of tipping the golf cart – so you must always drive the cart with caution.

There are many ways to customize a golf cart, and the possibilities are only limited by your imagination. For example, you can add larger wheels and tires for improved performance on the golf course, or install lifted seats and a custom dashboard for a more stylish look. You can even add a golf cart lift kit to increase the golf cart’s overall height and improve its stability and handling.

Factors That Influence Lifting Your Cart

For example, golf carts are typically designed to handle a certain amount of weight, so it is important to ensure that your golf cart is able to safely support the added weight of any lifted components. You should also take into account the golf cart’s center of gravity, as this can affect the golf cart’s stability and handling. Additionally, it is important to consider the golf cart’s suspension system when lifting, as this can impact the golf cart’s ride quality and performance.

There are many ways to customize a golf cart, including adding larger wheels and tires for improved performance on the golf course, or installing lifted seats and a custom dashboard for a more stylish look. Keep in mind that if you want to add those larger tires to your cart, you will most likely need the lift kit regardless.  If you add the tires but do not lift the cart, the tires will be too big and will rub against the frame of the cart.  This will not only cause issues for the new tires, but for your cart as well.

Finally, many lifted golf carts are not allowed on a golf course, due to their all-terrain tires.  So, if you want to bring your cart on the course, it may be best to refrain from lifting it.

Lifted Golf Cart Heights

There is not one specific height that you can lift your cart by.  However, lift kits will typically have a certain range of heights available between brands and products.  Your golf cart can typically be lifted between 3 inches and 8 inches higher than standard.  These lift kits usually provide a 4”, 5”, and 6″ option.

When you lift your cart, you can include tires up to a 20-22 inch tire for a three inch lift.  If you choose something higher, like a six inch lift, you could even include tires as large as 23 inches.
