How to Keep Dogs Safe in a Golf Cart

dog in golf cart

There’s nothing better than cruising through the neighborhood in your golf cart… Except for the fact that your four-legged friend can’t come along! Unless you have a small lap dog, it can be difficult to find a way to keep your pup involved in the family golf cart outing. After all, you want your furry friend to be safe and comfortable, and golf carts are open, small, and provide plenty of opportunities for Fido to jump right out!

Here at J’s Golf Carts, we understand that pets are family, and you should be able to bring them along in every activity. Let us know if you have any questions about your golf cart or want to learn more about different solutions to your golf cart problems. We’re always here to make sure you have the best experience – call us at 919-552-9351 or stop by to see us at 2229 Wade Nash Road in Holly Springs.

How to Keep Pets Safe in Your Golf Cart

Companionship with your pet is one of life’s fullest joys, and we know that you want to share every experience with your pup. As a thoughtful and caring pet owner, it only makes sense that you’d want them to enjoy a golf cart ride with you!

If your golf cart does not have seatbelts, consider using a harness with a short leash attached to the seat to keep your dog safe in your new golf cart. If your cart does have seatbelts, you can easily find a harness that connects to the belt and will keep your puppy safely restrained.
You may also be interested in upgrading your cart to an option that has doors. Fido can still feel the wind in his hair but won’t have as simple a time of hopping out of the vehicle.

Why Should I Harness My Pet in My Golf Cart?

Your pet’s safety is top priority. When you don’t secure your pet, you run the risk of them jumping out of the golf cart to run after squirrels, dogs, children, bikes, or anything else of interest. Think you can just hold them on a leash? Not so fast. What happens when your pup jumps out of the golf cart and the leash gets tangled around the wheel? An emergency vet visit is what happens. Your pet could also hop out of the cart in excitement and cause an accident, which is never something any pet owner (or any driver at all) wants to deal with.

At the end of the day, even the most well-behaved dogs can get excited and feel the need to break free. It’s our job as pet owners to keep them safe and protected. If you can’t attach a harness to your golf cart safely, it may be wise to leave your pet at home. Always air on the side of caution, not only to protect you and your furry friend, but to keep others safe as well.
