Why don’t players ride golf carts during the masters?

Have you ever watched the masters and wondered why the players walk the course rather than jumping on a golf cart? If you get the luxury of having a golf cart when you play golf, why would the best of the best not get the same experience? There is one main reason for this and that is wear and tear.

Can a golf cart damage a golf course?

If you have ever been on a golf course, you will have probably noticed the track marks and the occasional skid mark in the grass from someone hitting the brakes a little too hard. Although golf carts are a great way to traverse a golf course, there are some setbacks with having them on a course. The grass on a golf course is kept up throughout the year by a turf manager to make sure that the course is playable and does not have any damage. However, when you have many players driving a golf cart with rubber tires across the course, there are most likely going to be some slip-ups and damage will be done to the turf.

When you watch the Masters tournament or clips of it on YouTube, notice how the turf looks. This golf course is made to be put on national television with its perfect grass and incredible landscaping. There are teams of experienced landscapers that work hard to keep this course looking the best it can all year round. After knowing about all the effort and hard work that goes into this golf course, it is easy to see why they do not allow golf carts on this course, even during the Master’s tournament. The people who run the golf course want to make sure that the course does not get damaged in any way and removing golf carts from the situation makes it less likely to happen.

This is why players don’t ride golf carts at Augusta National. Although it is a nice way to get around a course, the golf course does not want carts on the holes. Some other things like metal shoe spikes are also not allowed on the course for the same reasons. The people who run the course are very serious about keeping it in the best shape possible.
